Hi all --
Let's say one is completely new to the Sunrider Mask of Arcadius / Liberation Day games (not completely true, but work with me). It's never been very clear to me from the Love In Space website or Steam store where one should start (or can start or has to stat) nor how the various games/episodes/versions relate to one another. This seems like a marketing failure to me given the amount of time that has obviously been put into developing the game. Can someone post or point me to a (preferably sticky) "So you want to play Sunrider? Here's how to go about it" FAQ?
In more detail: I actually came across Sunrider awhile back when it was still in development and think I played once through Mask of Arcadius, but when it became obvious that the game was still heavily under development, I put it aside waiting for it to be "finished." (I don't have many gaming hours in my life, so try to spend them well and only play games once when they're complete). I learned about Sunrider Academy at that time, and since it had been officially released, switched to that too and, mostly, enjoyed it (see my question in its Tech Support section for more details). In the meantime, it looks like Sunrider is much more complete, but I'm not sure where to (re)start? Do I need to / want to replay all of Mask of Arcadius given that I've played it once already and don't have tons of time? Can I / do I want to jump in with the 3.0 Captain's Edition? Should I wait for a future edition which will be even more complete to get all the story? (e.g., do those who played 1.0 or 2.0 have to entirely replay the game to get the expanded story in 3.0, and will there be a 4.0 that I should wait for?)
Again, if this information exists, please feel free to point me to it. I don't feel like the current organization of the website or message boards is really friendly to those who haven't been following the game from day one which has probably hurt its adoption by people with limited time or budget to invest in games but who would otherwise enjoy it.
Thanks,
-Scabbard
PS -- I'm guessing I played Mask of Arcadius when it was available as a download, yet not in the Steam store (?). At least, it doesn't show up under my Steam account, but I know I played it.
